FOCUS, CONFIDENCE, EMPATHY

AGES 5+

This custom, mixed age class is designed especially for homeschool families. We have a wonderful homeschool community of students and parents who come together each week to support each other, grow together, and have fun!

Because the class is for kids ages 5-11, the curriculum is a blend of what we teach in both our Power Ninja (Kinder and 1st) and Samurai (2nd-5th grade) classes.

Sensei Doug would be happy to speak with you if you have any questions. He can be reached at doug@lifekido.com or 512-327-2900.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

“[My] husband & I were VERY reluctant to enter the world of martial arts; too aggressive, too competitive. We decided to try Life Ki-do in hopes that he might gain some focus, respect for others, and self-discipline. What we got was SO much more. Life Ki-do teaches children (and parents) how to just be the best person THEY can possibly be, in a violent free space. The competition is within themselves.

As a parent, I’ve watched him grow into a strong, confident, focused boy who can communicate (better than me at times) with his words. Not only that, but he has gained so much pride. I am now CERTAIN that with Life Ki-do in his pocket, he will always make thoughtful and meaningful choices in life, love, and friendships. ”

GROUND TRAINING

Systema / Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu / Wrestling

Ground training is a crucial component in a comprehensive martial arts program. Our students learn and practice how to fall and roll safely, effective takedowns, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and wrestling techniques, as well as Systema strikes and breaks from the ground. Aside from the practical self-defense benefits, ground skills can also greatly enhance a student’s self-confidence and ability “to go with the flow.”

STAND-UP TRAINING

Systema / Sparring

We incorporate moves, drills, and freestyle sparring from a variety of martial arts styles so that students may develop stand-up blocking, punching, and kicking skills. However, our emphasis in stand-up training is on the Systema principles of fluidity and partnering that involves mutual care and respect.

FLOW FORMS

Tai Chi / Qigong / Traditional Karate

Students first learn to connect a series of individual movements using their breath then they progress to a pre-choreographed set of moves from Tai Chi and traditional karate katas. This individual practice not only builds tremendous body awareness, coordination, strength, and stamina but also develops focus, confidence, and determination.
